“Wear A Hat”
Mother’s Day Breakfast
10:00 am – 11:30 am at Community Center
Mothering comes wrapped in the hearts of all women and to honor the mom in all of us we invite all you beautiful women to our Annual Mother’s Day “Wear A Hat” Breakfast. Come enjoy a delicious breakfast made just for you here at the community center. The breakfast is free to all moms as long as they wear a hat, so be creative for example, a top hat, bonnet, chapeau, beret, crown, stocking cap, lampshade, or an original by you! Surprise us or pay $1,000,000,000! Please call and register by May 1, 626-2115. Bring along your significant other.
Don’t forget Kids, Sunday, May 10 is “mother’s day!” Pick mom flowers or make her a card, but just don’t forget her special day!

Memorial Day Parade - Monday, May 25
Step off is 1:00 PM
Parade route starts at Revenue Markets on Route 209. Step off is 1:00 pm, and the parade route will follow Route 290 north, and turn onto Main Street and proceed to its destination at the Accord Fire House. There will also be celebrations in the town park. Vendors needed. Art Lapp is the Grand Marshall.

It’s not Summer without baseball
Love to play? Then the Free Summer Baseball Program is for you! The program runs for two weeks:
Week 1: August 3 – August 7.
Week 2: August 10 – August 14.
Want to improve your baseball skills while having fun? Signup for our summer baseball program and Play Ball! We’re hoping to have our favorite coach, Joe Dennin, back again this year.
The two-week baseball program is free and takes place in the Town Of Rochester Town Park. Registration is necessary. Signup starts June 4. Call Youth Department to signup: 626-2115.
OUTSTANDING SENIORS. Doris and Ed Lamon, winners of the 2008 Friend Of Youth Award were recently awarded “2009 Outstanding Contribution by a Senior Citizen” award by Ulster County Office of the Aging. They will be honored at Ulster County Community College on June 16 during Annual Senior Games Luncheon held in the UCCC cafeteria. There will be a $6 fee for lunch. Call Youth Department to make reservations.
Erica Bell is once again going through chemotherapy and it would be great for her to get your cards and good wishes to Erica. Send them to Erica Bell, 12 Lawrence Road, Accord, NY 12404.
So long, Fair well, Adieu, Good-bye…Friday, June 19 is the last day of Youth Center. We will miss you all, and wish you a wonderful safe summer! See you in September.

Year End Celebration - Friday, June 19, 2:30 – 5:30 PM The After School Program kids have big plans for an end of season blowout celebration. Events planned are food, games, and lots of fun. Want to join them, call the Youth Department: 626-2115

Brick Oven Family Night Starting Friday, July 10 at the Community Center, we will be offering brick oven pizza, bread, and other oven-worthy items piping hot from the brick oven for families to enjoy. Charlie Blumstein creator of the oven gave oven lessons to Rebecca Shea and others, who will be donating their baking time. Want to help? Please let us know, and if you would like to donate some of the “fixins”, it would be a great help. We will be offering a variety of family entertainment like story time, games, music, and more. Brick Oven Family Night is every other Friday from 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM (If you can, bring a share dish, salad or
dessert.)
Summer Program
July 6 – August 21, 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM Epworth Retreat Center (before and after care available.)
This year the Town of Rochester Summer Program will integrate with the YMCA Camp Wiltmeet at the Epworth Retreat Center in High Falls. Epworth is located on 160 acres of spacious beautiful meadows and woods along the Rondout Creek twelve miles west of New Paltz.
This property includes a pool and natural waterfront for swimming, canoeing, kayaking and nature studies, several athletic fields and a full sized basketball court, a spacious lodge and renovated barn, several large pavilions. High and Low Ropes challenge courses, exploration caves, and nature trail.

Saturday May 2 and Saturday May 30.

Walking with the Dinosaurs Sunday, June 21 - $56 per person, signup now with payment. limited seating. A great Father’s day treat at Times Union Center. Be amazed as 15 life-sized dinosaurs come to life and return to walk the earth before you eyes. Bus leaves Town Hall 10:30 AM and
returns approximately 5 PM. Bus will make a pit stop along the way there and back. You can bring lunch, snacks, and drinks on bus. Call 626-2115.
Bronx Zoo Trip Wednesday, July 1
$15 per person - No signups before June 20 and Payment due at time of signup. Bus leaves Town Hall 7:30 AM and returns 7:30 PM. Bring picnic lunch, snacks, and drinks in backpacks. Call 626-2115.
Zoom Flume Water Park Thursday July 9. All tickets: $22. Trip recommended for ages 8 and up. Bus leaves Town Hall at 9:00 AM and returns 6:00 PM. Bring a picnic lunch, snacks, and drinks to leave in coolers on the bus. Signup NOW! Payment due by June 19.
Bear Mountain - Monday, July 20. Spend a day on the swimming, walking through the nature zoo, having lots of fun at this beautiful park. Bring a picnic lunch. Tickets are $7. Bus leaves Town Hall at 8:30 AM and returns at 5:30 PM (Additional charges: Pool: Adults $2.00; Children $1.00 (6-12). Ages 5 and under free. Trailside Museum: Adults $1.00, Children (6-12) .50, free age 5 and under. Call NOW! Bus leaves promptly 8:30 AM from Town Hall and returns approximately, 5:00 PM. Relive your past Monday, July 27 at the Tom Jones live in Concert and the “ 60’s Experience” on the Bethel Woods Museum Trip. $65 for both. Museum is a multi-media experience that combines film and interactive displays, text panels and artifacts to explore the unique experience of the Woodstock festival, its significance as a culminating event of a decade of radical cultural
transformation, and the legacy of the Sixties and Woodstock today. Bus leaves Town Hall at 1:00 PM will return around midnight, and reservations and payment due now.
Lake Taghkanic Park Friday, July 31
Outing $5 per person. Ask about our family discount. Spend a day on the lake, swimming, paddle boating, having lots of fun in the sun. Bring a picnic lunch, or buy food there. Accord Speedway-Thanks to Accord Speedway owners, Gary and Donna Palmer, “Kids Go Free night” is being offered again this year on Friday, July 31. It’s Western Night sponsored by the Pinegrove Dude Ranch. Gates open at 5:00 PM and races begin at 7:00 PM Signup now: 626-2115.
Children’s Day Cruise Friday, August 7, Tickets are $10 for children, adults $15. Bus leaves Center at 10:15 AM, and returns at 2:30 PM. The Cruise has an interactive DJ, who gets kids dancing, playing games, and into contests, plus kids will be treated to a wonderful magic show. Bring a snack and drink for the bus. No food or drinks can be brought onto the ship, but can be purchased aboard. Signup NOW: 626-2115. Payment due by July 24.
Great escape - Monday, August 17 Signup and payment are due Wednesday, August 3. All Tickets are $25. Bus leaves Town Hall at 7:30 AM and returns 7:30 PM. Pack a lunch, although you cannot bring it in the park, you can bring coolers on the bus. Call 26-2115.

Rochester Senior Group - Rochester Senior Group meets every Tuesday, from 10:30 AM – Noon at the Community Center followed by an hour-long senior yoga class taught by Carla Olla. For information, call 626-2115.
Little Ones Learning Center Located in the Rochester Reformed Church, Route 209, Accord.
This valuable community resource is dedicated to promoting early literacy and book lending for our children and their families in The Rondout Valley area. Please support them. Little Ones is open every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 10 AM – Noon. Come and let your child experience the magic of books. For information, call Little Ones director, Debbie Skogman at

Rent A Kid Think spring! Rent a kid for house cleaning, babysitting, etc. Do you need a dog-walker, pet-sitter, mother’s helper, or possibly your yard needs a cleanup? To signup or hire a “kid”,

Annual “Easter Egg Hunt” Even with the threat of rain, around 100 kids came out to hunt eggs and visit with the Easter Bunny and Sponge Bob. Thanks go out to the Rochester Seniors for making sure the Easter Bunny was there, and to all our volunteers including Tiffany Dennin, Hailey Zurawel, Vivian Salinas, the Christian family, Mary Lee, Toni Sindone, Aline Pedelborde, Shaye Davis, Connie and Stephanie Rzeszewicz, and Josh DeWoody that helped in some way to make it a great event.

After School Program goes by school calendar, and when they are closed, we are closed, if they have early dismissals we are closed, and if they cancel all after school activities, we will be closed too. Please make arrangements for your child in case any of these cancellations occur.
Please take note: Children must be picked up no later than 6:00 PM!
Our Policy: No sign-ups for trips accepted on the answering machine. Please call the office or come in to sign-up. If you sign up for a trip, we will hold a seat for you unless you call and cancel. We will try to sell your ticket to someone on the waiting list. If your tickets cannot be sold, you are held responsible for payment, and you will not be reimbursed. Please be aware that trip goers must adhere to bus departure times for destinations so we can remain on schedule. Failure to do so will result in not being allowed to signup for future trips. Please Note that due to bank policy, we must charge $15 for each returned check. Alcohol is prohibited on Youth Commission trips, programs, and activities.
