Town Food Drive Continues
in Accord and Kerhonkson
Making giving to others
a family project!
Kelder’s Farm on Route 209 in Kerhonkson will be hosting a Pantry Power family-oriented food drive on Saturday, October 4, 10am-4pm. Children of participating families will receive free animal feed for the petting zoo, animal balloons, and face painting. Each family is being asked to donate at least seven non-perishable food items or make a tax-deductible donation of at least $10.
Also participating in the Pantry Power campaign are the Friends of Historic Rochester and the Accord Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Food and financial donations will be accepted on Saturday, October 4, at Heritage Day, an annual event sponsored by Friends of Historic Rochester. The organization is located on Main Street in Accord. On Sunday, October 5, food and financial donations will also be accepted at the pancake breakfast sponsored by the Accord Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
A project of the Rochester Food Pantry, the Pantry Power effort is designed to reach the town’s residents in every area: local businesses, individuals and families, and members of political, religious, and social organizations. As is the case with other local pantries throughout the county, the Rochester Food Pantry is experiencing dramatic increases in the number of people it is serving each month. In July, the Rochester Food Pantry provided 2,412 meals, more than double the 996 meals it provided last year during the same time period.
Grocery items needed include canned juices, fruits, vegetables and soups, pork and beans, tuna fish, mayonnaise, cereal, pancake mix, syrup, peanut butter, jelly, pastas, and sauces. For further information on making a food donation, telephone 626-7748. Financial donations may be made to the Rochester Food Pantry and mailed to PO Box 12, Accord, NY 12404.
