Binders were issued to each member containing the current and the proposed zoning codes. A copy of the proposed zoning map from the previous task force was also issued to each member.
Each member provided their contact information.
Task Force began by each member giving a brief introduction of themselves.
It was discussed to begin the process by reviewing the work done by the previous task force and also the current code.
Audience member Barry Medenbach spoke as to the merits of what was proposed by the previous task force and the problems with the current code from the perspective of an engineer who works frequently with this code. He also discussed the need for all subdivision of property to be reviewed.
Tom Shepstone outlined problems with the current zoning map. There are naming issues and the existence of the “F” zone is problematic. Also the current map is very vague and does not follow parcel lines.
Proposed zoning designations were reviewed and clearer names were tentatively proposed based on the previous task force’s designations.
Specific discussions focused on a possible natural resources overlay, expansion of allowed uses in the “Rural” designation (“CF” on proposed map), business zone, the difference between density figured by the yield vs. the adjusted tract acreage formulas, and possible architectural standards for certain areas.
A lively discussion ensued with several ideas and comments being put out for consideration at a later date.
A 3 month schedule of meetings was established.
