TOWN OF ROCHESTER BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE VOLUNTEER REQUEST

January 2007

The Town of Rochester Business Development Committee (BDC) needs volunteers. We have a variety of sub-committees that have openings. Open positions will require the following:  Analysis skills, marketing and sales experience, good verbal and writing skills, grant writing experience, a comfort level with project plans and Microsoft Project.  We believe our mandate is to bring jobs to our community without sacrificing our small town life and rural character. We believe we need to support existing business in our community and look to them as our first source of growth and jobs.

If you are a citizen who cares about preserving the rural character of our community while encouraging managed growth, if you understand the need to support existing businesses and bring in new businesses while managing growth in our community, and/or if you are a current or retired business owner or senior staff person who can be available for evening or weekend meetings and have Internet and Email access, we invite you to apply for membership on the BDC. Please submit letters of intent and a brief resume showing your skills and experience to the Town Board. These letters will be forward to our committee for review. After review, the BDC will make final recommendations to the Town Board for seating on the committee. We seek diversity in types of businesses represented and in the variety of expertise that can be brought to the BDC.
