Rochester Hosts 6th Annual Spring History Day
By: Rob Case, Photojournalist
I could see a flood of cars and trucks all moving down Main Street and as I followed, I thru a quick glance to my left at the Museum, 12 Main Street, and was taken back slightly by what I saw. All around the town Museum were large white tents, housing and displaying beautiful collections and displays, with women in “period” dress bustling about in preparation for the much anticipated, and well prepared for event. I parked my truck, grabbed my Canon, and trailed along behind the other new arrivals to take everything in at my own pace. I found Alice Cross who got me pointed in the right direction, explaining the layout, and turned me loose to the task at hand … report the news. There was a tent just
filled with quilts made right here by local folk to see and for sale.
There was food, music, a Bagpiper, and the “Accord Road Show” for appraisal of antiques and collectibles. There was Cheese Making, Horseshoeing, and activities for kids. There is so much history to see in the newly renovated Museum that speaks of a lot of dedication, care and work by members of the town, as well as the “Friends of Historic Rochester”.
